Technical Bulletin: Multiple Choice: Single Response (MCS)
Questions With Scramble Range Values in the K – Z Range (12/8/2000)
Initial Error:
A question bank contains MCS questions with scramble range values in the K – Z range.
One or more of these particular questions are put on a test. When the test is saved,
the following error appears:
CTestSet: Update
String data, right truncated
This error will occur in LXR*TEST v6.0.2.0 and in all prior versions. Version 6.0.2.1
corrects this error.
Possible Scenario:
As a result of the correction to the above problem a complicating scenario is possible:
An instructor with LXR*TEST v6.0.2.1, or later, creates an Online test (Web or LAN).
The students taking the Online test are using v6.0.2.0, or earlier, of the Student
LAN program or v6.0.0.2, or earlier, of the Web Server Extensions.
If the Online test contains multiple choice questions that
employ any test version scrambling, then these questions will not appear scrambled
during test administration; hence, these questions will not be graded correctly.
Summary:
Online tests created with LXR*TEST v6.0.2.1, or later, require administration with
Student LAN program v6.0.2.1, or later, or with the Web Server Extensions v6.0.0.4,
or later. Online tests created with LXR*TEST v6.0.2.0, or earlier, will work with
any version of the Student LAN program or the Web Server Extensions.
