How Do I?
Setting Up a LAN-based Exam on a Peer-to-Peer Network
Rationale:
Drive letter assignments will vary across machines on a peer-to-peer network. If
a particular participant's machine has mapped the test machine's drive to a different
letter, then this participant's test session will be unable to locate the associated
files, such as a scores file, of the online LAN exam - this will prevent the participant
from being able to take the LAN-based exam.
Procedure:
When creating the online LAN exam (see above), you will need to re-associate the
path(s) for the associated file(s) to use the universal naming convention (UNC).
Right-click on the box for the associated file. Choose the "Re-associate" option.
(see above)
Choose the "Browse" option. (see above)
When browsing for the location of your associated file(s), be sure to start by entering
the "Network Neighborhood". Then you can continue to browse for your file. Click
OK to save the change in file location.
Now you will notice that the reference(s) for the associated file(s) will contain
the machine name, followed by the file path of the file(s). This will enable all
participant sessions on the peer-to-peer network to properly locate the associated
file(s) in order to run the LAN-based exam.
