Report Groups

Report Groups is an exciting, new feature that will allow you to save report print settings. This feature includes selection and sort parameters (depending on the report) and also allows for multiple print jobs to be set up! A user with a need to quickly print multiple variations of any given report, should find this new feature a time-saver!

For example, a school administrator may need to easily print a set of score reports for students, sorted according to teacher code and grade level. With the Report Groups feature, s/he can configure the settings for batch printing and save these settings for frequent use.

Tutorial Example

Returning to our school administrator example, let's demonstrate/discuss creating and configuring a report group. Let's say the administrator wants to compare 10th grade student performance, for a particular (standardized) exam, between two English teachers. The administrator decides to use the Individual Scores Report and highlights this report in the left panel and "adds" the report to the right panel - s/he repeats this process once. Now she is ready to configure the two report batch jobs for the two teachers s/he has in mind (see previous image of Report Group Window).

Clicking once on each of the "Individual Scores" batch print jobs will expand the customizable parameters. By double-clicking on the "Selection parameters" (available for this report), the administrator is presented with a window from which to specify selection criteria for selecting students for this particular batch printing job.

Multiple Groups of Reports 9

This selection window is nearly identical to the bank "Selection Window", except here students (not questions) are being selected. The administrator will have 10th-grade students of teacher "EJ" be selected for this print batch of the Individual Scores report - i.e., the Individual Scores report will be printed for all of teacher "EJ's" 10th-graders. The administrator can likewise configure the next print job to print the Individual Scores report for all of teacher "EH's" 10th-graders.

In addition, the administrator can also configure the sort parameters for these batch print jobs:

Multiple Groups of Reports 10

By configuring the sort order, the administrator can have the students from the batch print jobs be printed in a particular order. From this example, the first priority for printing students' Individual Score reports would be according to the test version, then by the letter grade (from highest grade to lowest grade), lastly by student name (in alphabetical order).

Lastly, the report (print) parameters need to be configured:

These report parameters are the same as for manually printed reports. Please refer to the User's Guide for discussion the selectable print parts for each report type.

Once finished with creating/configuring this report group, the administrator could save it for future use. In fact, this report group can be applied to any particular (score) file - i.e., with any particular exam! By clicking on the Print button of the Group Reports toolbar, the batch print jobs will automatically be sent to the printer. If no appropriate database(s) is open, LXR*TEST will prompt the user to open the pertinent file(s).
