Frequently asked Questions
How LXR*TEST 6.1 Differs From LXR*TEST 5.1
Issue: What happened to the "keywords" found in
5.x versions of the program?
Response: In 6.1, the "keywords" have been renamed
to "categories". You can access a questions categories via the "Category Area".
To customize your categories, you will need to access the "Question Setup" found
in the Utilities menu, when the bank is the active window.
Issue: In 5.x versions, when you closed a bank
and then later reopened it, the selected questions would remain. However, in 6.1
you lose your selected questions once you close the bank!
Response: In 6.1, you can save you selected questions
using the "Save Selection" option found in the Select menu, when the bank is the
active window. When you later reopen the bank, you would use the "Recall Selection"
option found in the Select menu. This will restore your previous question selection.
Issue: How many banks can I use to build a test?
Response: There is no limit placed on the number
of banks that you can use to build a test. In 5.x, you were limited to 10 banks
per test.
Issue: How can I not choose from the questions
I have already put on one test when building another test?
Response: Just like in 5.x, when your Tests Window
is active, use the "Select Items on Test" option in the Select menu. This option
will select in the bank all questions that are on the current test. Then switch
to the Bank Window and use the "Select Inverse" option in the Select menu. Now close
the Tests Window and create a new test. Then choose "Selected" in the "Question
View" of the new test. You will now see the selected questions to draw from in the
left panel of the Tests Window.
Issue: What happened to the "Objective Descriptions"
found in 5.x?
Response: All components of "Objective Descriptions",
minus the "Sample Size" have been carried over into 6.1's Grading Table.
Issue: I've converted a 5.x bank to 6.1 format
and some of my graphics seem to be placed in different locations than originally
within my questions.
Response: Due to the different text engines employed
in 5.x versions and 6.1, graphic placement may vary between questions of a 5.x bank
and a converted (6.1) bank. You may need to manually make some graphic placement
adjustments after the conversion process has completed.
Issue: Will my custom forms from 5.x still work
with 6.1?
Response: Yes! Your custom forms can be copied
or moved into the specified Forms directory in 6.1 (under Aux Files in Preferences).
They will continue to work as before; i.e., they will only support 5.x parameters,
such as a 2-character coded field value.
